The introductory series to the production of plastic products

Hello and thank you for joining the series.
In each lesson I will clarify concepts from the field
And you will give tips and recommendations for working correctly with plastic injection.
These tips are designed to improve your skills,
and help you in working with product designers and manufacturers.
My goal is to shorten the way for you
and increase the chances of success of your next projects
So in the end you will get products that work as they should and also look great.

My name is Boaz Zer, about two decades ago I discovered the field of plastics
And I was amazed to discover the endless possibilities inherent in technology,
and in the variety of applications in which it can be used.

Although at first I was flooded with a lot of professional concepts that I did not know,
And I also made quite a few mistakes trying to shorten the way.
I learned from every mistake and over the years I specialized in the field
And I gained experience from project to project.
I am happy to share my experience and contribute to your success.

Lesson 1: Basic concepts in designing plastic products

Understanding the professional language, in any field,
Essential when working with different professionals
Because it gives us the ability to ask questions
and be involved in the process.
the first two lessons of the course
I will devote myself to understanding and clarifying key fundamental concepts.
These concepts will also help us later when we talk about making templates
and production in Israel and China.

PARTING LINE

The dividing line, or in its foreign name Parting Line,
is where the pattern pieces meet when the pattern is closed.
This line is visible on the product
Therefore, you need to think carefully about where to place it.
In most cases, the dividing line has mainly aesthetic importance,
But there are products, in the medical and cosmetic fields for example,
There the dividing line also has a functional importance.
In these cases, the pattern must be produced very precisely
So that the line can be seen and felt minimally.
The following charts demonstrate a dividing line
in simple and complex plastic products.

Angle of the shirt

The concept of the angle of the skirt refers to the way in which
The plastic product is pulled out of the mold
After the material has solidified inside her.
When we design a template,
We want to ensure that we can get the product out of her
without damaging the product or the mold itself,
The angle of the skirt is the slope in the pattern that allows us to do this.

The accepted values of haliza angles are between half a degree and five degrees.
There are medical products such as syringes, for example, in which the angle of the sleeve should aim for zero,
And for this purpose, sophisticated and expensive methods have been developed that make it possible to carry out such an extraction.
In summary, the dividing line and the angle of the cut
They are concepts that you encounter every time you approach the production of plastic products.
I hope that next time these concepts will come up
They will seem more friendly and understanding to you.

In the next lesson I will talk about material entry, undercuts and wall thickness.
In the meantime, I will be happy to answer questions by email: boaz@plastomold.com
thanks and have a good day,
Boaz
